Hi again everyone! We are so glad to be back again this month blogging with this fabulous group of people!
Since it is the season for giving thanks, we would like to thank all of our fellow bloggers in the Primary Pack for supporting us and being there at all times. We also want to thank all you for coming back to read our blog time and time again. Thank you for your continued support!
This week we are talking about "clippies!" What are clippies? Well, we are here to show you our version of using clothes pins to help foster learning.
1. Buy your favorite unfinished wooden clothespins (or other unfinished wooden items).
2. Choose your favorite Rit dye colors and visit their website to create new colors by mixing colors in your local store. We found these liquid dyes at Walmart in the laundry section.
3. Purchase some distilled white vinegar. (You probably don't need this much, haha!)
4. Add 2 tablespoons of liquid Rit dye to a cup. We used Solo cups and they worked perfectly!
5. Add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar.
6. Add 1 1/4 cups of hot water. (You can microwave it for 2 minutes in a glass dish to get it hot enough. Easy!)
7. Stir it up, add your clippies, and let them sit for 10 minutes.
8. Let your clippies air dry overnight or dry them with a hairdryer to speed up the process. Voila!
Cute and colorful clippies for a variety of classroom uses!
You can use this pin to save the dying recipe on The Rit Studio's website from Lisa Ketell Designs!
We like to use our "clippies" as a classroom fast finisher center with tons of thematic AND skill-based fun for our students.
We keep them in our cute Sterilite drawers for easy access.
The clippies are stored in this super cute little box which is so easy to open for little hands. These cute little boxes can be found at Walmart, Home Depot, or Staples.
Clippies are a HOT activity in our classrooms!
Here, a child is counting how many pencils the turkey has in order to match a numeral to a set.
These super cute scarecrows are helping us with our rhyming words!
Great job! Net rhymes with vet and jet!
These fun clippies show Monkey all dressed up for Halloween. The children put a clippie next to the word that tells what Monkey's costume is!
It's always fun to use clippies to practice our addition and subtraction skills.
Here, a child is clapping out syllables of each object pictured to look for all the ones with 2 syllables!
Do you use "clippie" activities in your classroom? We'd love to hear about your favorite use for them!
We will be back in December! See you soon!
I LOOOVE clippies! I will be doing this for a weekend project, to donate to a 1st grade classroom near my home! Thanks see you this weekend.
